Fade to Nothing

Title: Fade to Nothing
Music: Stuart Herring and Nick Hulskamp
Lyrics: Tessa Kum
Year: 2000 - 2003

This was one that we had nearly complete, before my hard drive crashed.
It's been one of our favourites since we first started work on it.
The music is pretty much all there for this, I'm just in the process of re-recording tracks, and doing the production work.
I hope to have it finished soonish, I'm putting it above everything else on my list.
UPDATE: Vocals are all it's waiting for...I just can't seem to get them right for it. But I'll keep trying. In the mean time, I've uploaded a 3 minute excerpt from middle of the piece as it is right now. The excerpt runs from the 3rd verse, through quite a long instrumental section, to the beginning of the 5th verse.

Dichotomy

This piece grew from a lyrical idea I've been thinking about for a while, and an experimentation into heavier guitar styles...
The lyrical idea is a protest against all the stupid one dimensional thinking in the world, where people assume that just because condition A is true, that therefore condition B must be false...I'd been thinking about writing a song about that for a while, but it wasn't until I saw someone give the concept a name - a false dichotomy - that I actually got the inspiration.

Wraith

Title:Wraith
Music: Stuart Herring and Nick Hulskamp
Year: 2003

This piece came about from a guitar riff Nick came up with, and the name, which he also provided.
The clean, ringing, apegio riff combined with the name gave me an image of a pale, waif of a girl, on a horse...riding out through the mist.
I had a pretty good idea of a chorus straight away...and in writing the verse, I discovered that the girl was recently dead, and was wandering aimlessly between this world and the next.
Musically, we have a pretty good start on this..although I need to do something about vocals, my voice just isn't quite capable of what this song needs.
The sample is of the chorus as it currently stands...
